Anco Marzio

After the death of Tullius Ostilius, Anco Marzio became king (640-616 b.C.).
He was a good king like his predecessor but he considered war as a way to defend the town from the assaults of neighboring people.
Dione Cassio wrote: he believed that to have a durable peace it was necessary to make war.
According to the legend Anco Marzio founded the port of Ostia for the supremacy on the Tiber and the sea-coasts.
