Teodosius

The Spanish Teodosius was the last great Emperor to rule the Roman Empire before the fall of the Western Roman Empire.
He was a staunch Catholic, who fought both paganism and arianism. During his reign, there was full agreement between Church and State. He did not rebell at the punishment St. Ambrose inflicted him, obliging him to public repentance for the crime called the "massacre of Thessalonica".
After his death the Empire was shared between his two sons: Honorius received the western Empire and Arcadius the Eastern Empire, thus marking the end of the great Roman Empire.
